Halloween and Trick-or-Treating!

This Halloween was so much fun!! We continued some family traditions (the half moon bay pumpkin patches, decorating our house), started some new ones (a Halloween Party and dressing up as a family) and watched Mateo learn about and enjoy the spirit of Halloween! From starting off being scared and saying "no haween" "no scary" to running to "see haween" and watch his haunted houses for what could be hours. And from "no piders" to "see piders", and learning that Halloween had a lot to do with sweets and candy.
I always have a hard time deciding on a costume.. this year we chose Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean. The reality of the costume is that the hat/hair was the key to the costume. From the day it arrived Mateo wanted nothing to do with the hat. I kept trying to tell him that when it was time for Halloween he needed to wear the hat trick or treating and he would get lots of candy. Still no convincing. Once in a while (i kept trying) he would let me put it on for a short time with a bribe. So on Halloween night we werent quite sure what would happen. At first he was reluctant.. but once some kids started trick-or-treating at our door.. he started to get excited. When we told him it was time to go he willingly put on his hat and headed out. He kept it on the whole time.. and it was way too cute. He got so many comments on how cute his costume was!!
While we went out trick-or-treating, Nanna and NuNu stayed at the house and passed out candy. We then all went to Fairhaven..a neighborhood here in town that all get together and decorate their houses/lawns. With how many people are there you would think the whole town was there. It's fun looking at all the houses, and costumes. The key is to make sure you go TOT in your own neighborhood first before you go though because since they have hundreds upon hundreds of TOT's they give out very small pieces of candy...which in reality is not a bad thing. Elvis loved Mateo and had to have his picture taken with him.. as did a Daddy version of Captain Jack.. but Mateo wanted nothing to do with a picture with him.. so we just took one of him. Hope you enjoy the pictures... now on to all the other fun holidays!!

Carving pumpkins... Mateo wasn't too interested and really had no interest in cleaning out the guts.

Happy Halloween!!
