Is today Christmas?

Every morning when Mateo wakes up, he stops and asks, "Is it Christmas today?". He is so excited and the anticipation of Christmas and Santa are so fun to watch thru his eyes! We have and advent calendar box that he gets a small "treat" in everyday and he really loves that too... I mean what kid wouldn't. But I can see how hard it is for him to see presents under the tree and understand that he has to wait to open them, and that when we are at the store we are not buying any toys cause Christmas is almost here and I know he will get plenty. A little hard for a 3 year old brain to grasp. But today he is very excited to leave cookies and milk for Santa so we had to make a trip to Safeway to get ourselves prepared. And ooops, just realized I forgot the carrots for the reindeer... guess that means another trip out!

I realize my pictures havent been making it here but that seems to take so long when time is not what I have much of with boy little guys right now. But that is my goal before the end of the year.. update these sites to get them to current!~

Something new ~ Monsters

In the past week or so, Monsters have become real in our house. Mateo has been talking about monsters for a little bit but nothing serious. Then when we went to Disneyland, everyride started with "is it scary, are there monsters?". All from the little guy who last year LOVED rides with no fear. Funny enough most rides at Disneyland are dark, never really thought about it before, but Mateo was on top of it. He did well but was easily rattled. Funny too, he went on the Matterhorn and loved the speed but can only remember the red eyes at the top of the mountain. Poor little guy.

Forward to Monday. He woke up saying that he didn't want to ever go mimis again (to sleep) cause there were monsters. He had a dream that a monster washed him away and he was trying to kill him. All this from a 3 year old. So now the dark is a bad thing. And while I can explain to him that monsters are not real, I cannot guarantee and promise him that he will not have bad dreams.. ugghh. He talked about not wanting to go to sleep all day, but with reassurance did fine. Then Tuesday morning, the 1st thing out of his mouth when he woke up, "mommy, the monsters stayed away last night". Best news ever!!! We'll see how this monster thing pans out!

Mateo cuteness

Just a little something Mateo said this morning that I don't want to forget! So darn cute. He woke up and gave me a huge hug, then in his fun, surprised sounding kind of voice says.."uhh did you hear that? My belly is burping. I am really hungry~!" So freakin cute~~

This is how they roll

Ever since Marco was born and he and Mateo have been sitting side by side in the back seat...this is how they roll! I don't think there has been a time yet that Mateo hasn't settled in his seat and grabbed and held Marco's hand. I don't know if it's a comfort thing (if you know my Mateo he loves/has to be touching soft skin with his non thumb sucking hand) or if it's just a sweet loving big brother thing. Which ever it is, it is so sweet. It calms Marco down when he's crying and I think it just keeps him feeling calm in general. I only hope my two boys continue to feel this way about each other as the years go by.

Halloween Trick or Treating Elephant Style!

Trick or Treating keeps getting more fun every year. We have been talking about it for awhile, and everytime I would bring it up, Mateo would say, R we going NOW. Can we go NOW. Well finally he got to go. He had fun ringing the doorbells and looking for the houses that had their "lights on". One man opened the door wearing a mask, and right away Mateo jumped back and said "no" in a little voice but he didn't run away.. and actually could not take his eyes off of him! He was sad when it was time to stop but the little man was getting tired and cranky! At the end of the night though, he inspected his candy and was a super happy little man~

Our only inside decorations this year, but Mateo loves them.

Only mangaged to get a few pictures of outside~

Such a good big brother!

It is an understatment to say that Mateo LOVES his baby brother!! He loves to hold him, touch him, kiss him, sing to him and SOOTHE him. When he cries (especially in the car) he grabs his hand and whispers "it's ok Marco, Mommy's coming, don't cry"!! It is so so so cute. Well today Mateo was in his chair eating breakfast and I was upstairs changing Marco. Marco was crying and I could hear Mateo yelling. I thought he was trying to call me, but no... from downstairs he was yelling, "shhh, It's ok Marco, Marco, Marco, It's ok, don't cry". So so so cute.
And just yesterday another mom at preschool was asking if Mateo was jealous (as her 3 yr old is of her sister) and I was lucky enough to say NO. Except for sometimes asking me to give the baby to Daddy so I can hold him, he has never really acted jealous!! But don't get me wrong, he loves attention and when he sees the bab getting attention he just makes sure he lets his presence be known!! Lucky us!

Columbus Day Parade and Blue Angels

This year we took Mateo and Marco to the Columbus Day Parade in North Beach and to see the Blue Angels at Chrissy Field! Mateo LOVED LOVED LOVED it. We met Nanna and Nonno and got a perfect table to eat lunch at and seats for the parade. Mateo had so much fun at the Parade waving his Italian Flag and yelling YAY! The people on the floats were taking pictures of him they thought he was so cute! And Marco, well lucky boy, he just slept thru most of it!! And from there we went to Chrissy Field to see the Blue Angels. We were a little worried they might not fly due to fog but we were lucky and made it just in time with a perfect view! I am not sure which Mateo liked better, the parade or the planes!

Sipping fancy hot chocolate with Nanna

Excited and waiting for the blue angels!

Our little songbird!

Still today, almost 2 months later, poor little Mateo still says he doesn't want to go to school and he doesn't like school. Sometimes it sounds so sad I feel bad and wonder if I am doing the right thing by sending him. Well once we get there he lets go a little more easily, which is nice and when we pick him up he is excited to show his projects and tell all about his day. And he is so pooped he takes a great nap!

But how I "think" I know he is enjoying it and really getting something out of it -- (and let me say that when we were in mommy and me class, he didnt like the singing part and NEVER participated)--well sometimes now all he does is sings all day long. And I mean all day. Itsy Bitsy spider is his favorite, which he sings to his baby brother all the time!! But he has learned so many songs, some I have never heard, and some that bring back memories to when I was learning them. Too bad I don't know the words to some cause he loves it when I sing with him. It is so cute to watch him sing and use his hands like he has learned in school! It makes me feel a little better about sending him somewhere he seems to never want to go to!

Horrible, Horrible Mommy!

Tomorrow our sweet little baby Marco will be 2 weeks old. And while I have over 400 pictures on my own camera and around 150 that were taken of the delivery by a wonderful co-worker... I have not done anything with them. They sit waiting to be shared. I just cannot find the time, or give up the time with the boys yet to update. My goal is to update hear and on Marco's baby site by this weekend. Please let me find the time/motivation somewhere... cause I am truly excited to share them. The two of them together is absolutely adorable!!

Tomorrow is the big day!

Where has the time gone? Tomorrow is the Big Day! We finally get to meet our little man, the newest member of our family. The day we go from a family of 3 to a family of 4. I am excited, nervous and slightly sad. Only sad because this means I am done being pregnant. While this pregnancy has been much rougher than the 1st, I have still loved it. And knowing that I am done, no more babies, it just makes me a weee bit sad. But at the same time, I can't wait to meet this little guy. Can't wait to see Mateo's face when he sees his little brother and can't wait to watch the two of them grow up together being best buds!! (Even though at this moment, Mateo no longer wants a baby in the house)~!

Stay tuned for pics and updates!

Little Pool Shark!

When Mateo was 2 months old, we came across the cutest little pool table, and it was FREE! We have kept it waiting until he was ready to pull it out. Well looks like we may never need to. He seems to love the full size table and actually does pretty well. Him and Daddy enjoy their 'Pool' time together!

Look at the concentration on his face!!

Just over a week to go!

We are 37 1/2 weeks. A week from Thursday is the "big day". Our little guy is scheduled to arrive on September 10, 2009. Unless he has plans of his own, which I am hoping is not the case. This is the last week of living as a family of 3. The last week of trying to get the best sleep I can, and as much done as I can. I can only imagine what life is going to be like after he arrives. Mateo is such a handful right now I can only hope for the best. At this moment, he no longer wants a baby brother. I can't wait to see his reaction. Will keep you posted as things go along. If you didnt get the link to the little man's baby site and want it just send me an email or leave me a comment here and I will send the link!!

Some of the cuteness I don't want to forget!

Lately Mateo has been saying the funniest, cutest things. Most things make me laugh and think what a smart little man he is! Here are some of the things I don't want to forget!

A few weeks back I was telling Mateo he had to go potty before we left the house...he had to take a second to find his words, but he looked at me and said "Mommy, you are driving me nuts!". Seriously did he just say that??

Sometimes he looks at me and just says, "mommy, you're so sweet". Awww.

Last week after he fell at school I asked him how he got a scratch on his thumb and his response, "when I fell I had to protect myself". Seriously when did he become so grown up??

And the cutest : Last night he was playing with his animals (yes a year later they are still his favorite) and he called me, held up his mommy and baby giraffe and said, "look mommy, this is you and me". The sweetest thing ever...

Love this little guy!!

Mateo cuteness

Right now one of his favorite things to do is color and he gets so serious about it!

If it was up to him, he would live life without clothes!!

Lots of updates and catching up!

I've been a bad mommy keeping up on this blog... so make sure you scroll down to the pool pictures. There's lots of new stuff to see!

First OUCH report

We are on our 3rd week of preschool. Its still a bit of a challenge. When I pick him up he tells me about his day, and shows us his artwork and it seems he has a good time when he is there. But he does constantly remind me that "You left me all by myself and I couldnt find you". Ugghh I hate that part! In the mornings he is getting a little better, he tells me he is not going to cry and for the last 2-3 mornings he hasnt. I take him, ease him in, and now he goes straight to Miss Lorraine to be held for the first few minutes. He is such a cuddler. Miss Lorraine assures me that after a few min he is fine but it's still hard. (Oh and the one day that he did cry...she called my cell phone within 5 min to let me know that he was no longer crying and playing with playdough...that made me feel a lot better)

Well on Thursday at around 11:15 I got a phone call. Funny enough I was only blocks away. Mateo had fallen on the playground and had a pretty big knot on his forehead. I went right over to pick him up... and boy do I wish I had had my camera. It was the cutest thing ever, my little man was sitting in a chair holding a bag of peas to his forehead... seeing him melted my heart~~ He saw me and poor thing got a pouty lip and tears. He was being such a good boy and I am amazed he actually held the peas there! He was sent home with and "ouch report". No problems from the fall, just a little banged up
