My little Fisherman!

A little while back Jeff bought Mateo a Mickey fishing pole and he has been dying to go fishing since. So this weekend, we woke up at the crack of dawn and headed to our little spot on the lake. Mateo was excited and all was good. It took a little while but Jeff caught a little bass that he was teaching Mateo how to hold and shortly after Mateo went on a fish catching spree. He caught 7, yes 7 bluegill. The water was so clear that you could actually see the fish eating the worms. He had so much fun and of course wanted to do it again and again. But how will we explain to the little man next time when it probably won't be so easy to catch so many fish.
He can't wait to go fishing again!

Bug Catchers!

For about the past month, Mateo has been FASCINATED with BUGS! It doesn't matter what kind, as long as it moves... and quite honestly even if it doesn't move. He screams with joy for Jeff and I to come and look at what he's found. It's very cute but tiring too. Well over the weekend Jeff and Mateo got a bug catcher. So they headed right out to the backyard to catch some bugs!

Potty Training...Success in small steps~

We have been trying with the whole potty training on and off for a while. Mateo hasn't really had too much interest, and theres no need to push him. Well this weekend, we were home and had some serious time to spend on it and miraculously we had some success. I decided to keep him diaperless in hopes it would help. Well the first incident led to him hiding and peeing in his closet...yeah not a good thing. And that was after sitting on the potty many, many times.
But on day two. After trying many times to sit on the potty with no success, he then went outside to play in the pool diaperless. Much to our surprise 5 min later he was knocking on the back door saying he had to go potty. Jeff took him into the bathroom, he sat on his potty, asked Jeff to leave and woala. He peed all by himself. Which obviously resulted in a treat and a trip to get some ice cream. He was very excited but hmmm was it a fluke, can we keep it going? Updates soon to come.
And my husband thinks I am crazy cause I took pictures... but what can I say~!

This is my cheesy grin~!

The Heat Is On!

This weekend was HOT! So we broke out the pool, the water table, and the sprinklers! Mateo spent most of his time outside and had a blast. And of course, his animals kept him busy the whole time. He plays with them more than any other toy. We often wonder why we even have other toys??? But needless to say, Mateo beat the heat with water, water and more water! What more can a little boy ask for?

all cheezed up and ready to go outside!

Animals are coolin off too

Would you please stop taking my picture!!!!!!!!

How cute are them little buns. We spent a lot of time diaperless hoping for potty success!

Go Fly a Kite!

Usually I try not to work my full shift 1 day a week. If I do that next day Mateo and I are on our own for the day. That usually means little to no sleep for me. Well today...work got busy and I didn't get home til after 7. Only to find Mateo still asleep and Jeff just laying next to him. He looked at me and said "how bout I take a work share day and you can get some sleep". Woo hoo for me. Especially since Mateo had a Dr's appt in Livermore at 2pm. So as I went to sleep Jeff and Mateo headed downstairs to have daddy's specialty breakfast - Mickey and Minnie pancakes.
I guess after breakfast they headed out to the park. It has been pretty windy so they went to fly the kite. Mateo insisted on carrying the kite on the whole way to the park. Then Jeff let Mateo fly it all by himself. I wish I would have been there.. but then oh how I do love my sleep too!! Luckily Jeff took pictures on his phone. Hope you enjoy them!!

Such a big boy!

Look mommy, I can fly a kite all by myself!

A prediction of the next few years!!

Boys in our house

There are boys in my house – and Spiderman shoes
And 200 papers in various blues.
There's Bob (he's a builder) and Thomas the Train,
There's a fireman coat to wear in the rain.
They have cars on their shirts and frogs on their hats
There's a glove and a ball and a red plastic bat.
There's dirt on a face and a smudge on a nose;
Grass stains on knees and sand between toes.
There's bathtime at night with bodies to scrub,
And when we're all done there is dirt in the tub!
There's bandaids and bruises and curious bumps,
There's smiles and laughter and sometimes there's grumps.
There's odors most icky; there's boogers so green
There's more yucky things than I'll ever get clean.
There's piles of laundry; there's stories at night;
There's bedtime and bathtime and dinnertime fights.
There's cars and there's trains and there's books about trucks
There's Scoop, Lofty, Dizzy, and Travis, and Muck.
Sometimes there are bugs, and sometimes there are frogs;
Sometimes they are lions, or dinos, or dogs.
There are cute little vests and darling neckties
Dragged right through the mud – oh what a surprise!
There's running and climbing and jumping and falling
And laughing and crying and hugging and brawling
And rolling and losing and finding and creeping
And whining and stealing and sometimes there's sleeping.
There's tantrums and time outs and extra loud noise –
There's love in my house shaped like two little boys.
